A hospital operating several water-cooled chillers experienced reduced system efficiency. The likely cause was fouling in the condenser tubes, which limited heat transfer. After a short inspection, it was confirmed that the tubes were affected by limescale buildup, and a chemical cleaning and descaling procedure was chosen.
The Goodway® GDS-100 descaling pump system was used to circulate ScaleBreak-MP descaler through the tubes. Within a few hours, the limescale deposits were fully dissolved, and the system was flushed clean. Following this successful result, the same cleaning process was performed on the remaining chillers, restoring optimal performance across the entire system.
