During a scheduled outage at a salt processing plant in the northern Netherlands, two Goodway Benelux project engineers supported the contractor with cleaning the primary seawater‑cooled condenser. The unit contains approximately 5,500 titanium-grade tubes and was heavily fouled with biological and marine deposits, along with a hardened calcium carbonate scale layer.
The customer selected a mechanical cleaning using specialized SSM projectiles designed to remove hardened deposits. Due to the unknown scale thickness and the severity of the fouling, Goodway Benelux recommended a two‑pass cleaning approach with different projectile sizes to remove the deposits progressively.
Post‑cleaning inspection showed that roughly 70–75% of the deposits had been removed. After evaluation, the customer agreed to test ScaleBreak‑MP to determine its effectiveness on the remaining scale. The results were highly positive, indicating that future cleanings should incorporate ScaleBreak‑MP to fully restore the condenser tubes to optimal condition.
