Chemical tube cleaning

Goodway Benelux provides chemical cleaning-in-place systems and products for removing scale, rust, and biofouling inside shell and tube heat exchangers. Goodway® ScaleBreak descaling products are circulated through the system, effectively removing deposits with ease.

Advantages
  • Safe chemical descaling products
ScaleBreak descalers offer excellent cleaning results and speed without compromising the long-term integrity of equipment base metals.
  • Decrease maintenance downtime
A chemical cleaning-in-place can be performed relatively quickly and requires far less disassembly compared to other cleaning methods, significantly reducing downtime.
  • Reduce corrosion risk due to fouling
Under-deposit corrosion often occurs beneath layers of scale or biofouling. By performing a chemical cleaning-in-place (CIP) of the tubes, these deposits can be removed in time - preventing corrosion from developing.
  • Easy-to-use, complete equipment
Goodway® chemical tube cleaning systems are designed to be easy to use for both operators and engineers. They come equipped with all necessary features, including a buffer tank, so that no additional equipment is required to perform a cleaning.

More about chemical tube cleaning

Tube heat exchangers are used across a wide range of industries and applications. Goodway® chemical tube cleaning systems and descalers are designed to remove various types of deposits from inside the heat exchanger tubes. In general, these solutions are most effective against deposits such as scale (calcium carbonate), rust, and biological fouling.

"Halfway 2022, we purchased a GDS-100 descaling pump system for our CIP (cleaning-in-place) activities. We have already used the system several times for the cleaning and descaling of the tubes in water-cooled chillers. The GDS-100 is an easy-to-use, but professional and effective descaling pump system.

Fouling in heat exchanger tubes

Goodway® chemical tube cleaning systems are often used for water-cooled chillers and process heat exchangers and are therefore ideal for removing hard (waterformed) deposits such as:

  • Scale (calcium carbonate)
  • Biological growth (biofilm)
  • Rust (Fe203 – non-magnetic)

Cleaning-in-place and the benefits

Goodway® equipment operates using the cleaning-in-place (CIP) method. This approach requires minimal disassembly, saving manpower, reducing downtime, and lowering overall costs. To perform the cleaning, the heat exchangers are shut down and isolated, and a closed loop is created to circulate the cleaning agent through the tubes.

  • Reduced downtime: CIP enables cleaning with little disassembly of the heat exchanger, minimizing system downtime. Manual cleaning, in contrast, requires full disassembly and reassembly, which is much more time-consuming.
  • Lower labor costs: CIP typically requires less labor, as there is no need to manually clean each component or reassemble the equipment, reducing overall labor costs.
  • Increased safety: With no disassembly required, CIP lowers the risk of damaging equipment or exposing workers to hazardous materials, making it a safer cleaning method.
  • Consistency and effectiveness: ScaleBreak descaling solutions efficiently remove scale, fouling, and other deposits from heat exchanger surfaces, delivering consistent results without the variability associated with manual cleaning.
