Chemical plate cleaning

Goodway Benelux provides chemical cleaning-in-place systems and products for removing scale, rust, and biofouling inside plate heat exchangers. Goodway® ScaleBreak descaling products are circulated through the system, effectively removing deposits with ease.

Advantages
  • Safe chemical descaling products
ScaleBreak descalers offer excellent cleaning results and speed without compromising the long-term integrity of equipment base metals.
  • Decrease maintenance downtime
A chemical cleaning-in-place can be performed relatively quickly and requires far less disassembly compared to other cleaning methods, significantly reducing downtime.
  • Reduce corrosion risk due to fouling
Under-deposit corrosion often occurs beneath layers of scale or biofouling. By performing a chemical cleaning-in-place (CIP) of the plates, these deposits can be removed in time - preventing corrosion from developing.
  • Easy-to-use, complete equipment
Goodway® chemical plate cleaning systems are designed to be easy to use for both operators and engineers. They come equipped with all necessary features, including a buffer tank, so that no additional equipment is required to perform a cleaning.
  • Increase gasket lifetime
During disassembly, the repeated compression and decompression of gaskets can reduce their lifetime by up to 50%. With cleaning-in-place (CIP), little disassembly is required, allowing gaskets to last significantly longer.

More about chemical plate cleaning

Plate heat exchangers are used across a wide range of industries and applications. Goodway® chemical plate cleaning systems and descalers are designed to remove various types of deposits on the heat exchanger plates, without disassembling the system. Generally speaking, the solutions work best for deposits like: scale (calcium carbonate), rust and biological fouling.

"We use the Goodway® GDS-100 descaling pump system to chemically clean/flush different types of (plate) heat exchangers on location or in our workshop. The device is ideal for removing limescale deposits. This descaling pump system has a large tank, which means that even very large installations can be cleaned without any problems. It's a great asset to our company.

Fouling in plate heat exchangers

Goodway® chemical plate cleaning systems and descalers are suitable for all types of heat exchangers and deposits. If you are unsure whether your application is compatible, contact the Goodway Benelux customer support team for expert advice.

  • Remove energy-robbing deposits such as:
    Scale (calcium carbonate)
    Biological growth (biofilm)
    Rust (Fe203 – non-magnetic)
  • Use for all types of plate heat exchangers such as:
    Gasketed
    Brazed plate
    Welded & plate-and-shell

Cleaning-in-place and the benefits

Goodway® equipment operates using the cleaning-in-place (CIP) method. This approach requires minimal disassembly, saving manpower, reducing downtime, and lowering overall costs. To perform the cleaning, the heat exchangers are shut down and isolated, and a closed loop is created to circulate the cleaning agent over the plates.

  • Reduced downtime: CIP enables cleaning with little disassembly of the heat exchanger, minimizing system downtime. Manual cleaning, in contrast, requires full disassembly and reassembly, which is much more time-consuming.
  • Lower labor costs: CIP typically requires less labor, as there is no need to manually clean each component or reassemble the equipment, reducing overall labor costs.
  • Increased safety: With no disassembly required, CIP lowers the risk of damaging equipment or exposing workers to hazardous materials, making it a safer cleaning method.
  • Consistency and effectiveness: ScaleBreak descaling solutions efficiently remove scale, fouling, and other deposits from heat exchanger surfaces, delivering consistent results without the variability associated with manual cleaning.
  • Increase gasket lifetime: During disassembly, the repeated compression and decompression of gaskets can reduce their lifetime by up to 50%. With cleaning-in-place (CIP), little disassembly is required, allowing gaskets to last significantly longer.
