Chainsweepers

Chainsweepers are designed to remove medium to hard deposits from straight or bent tubes and pipes. These tools are used to remove the initial layer of hard deposits or debris, before using different cleaning brushes or tools to remove the remainder of the deposits. Use these tools to remove various hard, dry deposits.

2-pass cleaning for heavy fouling

In some cases, the fouling buildup inside tubes and pipes can be severe. In such situations, a brush alone may not be sufficient to remove the deposits. A specialized cleaning tool is needed first to remove the bulk of the buildup. Afterwards, (spider) brushes can be used to eliminate the remaining fouling and provide a slight polishing effect for optimal cleaning results.

For the initial cleaning pass, Goodway Benelux recommends using chainsweepers, which are highly effective at removing hard deposit buildup and debris inside tubes.

Practical information

Chainsweepers are designed for removing dry deposits and are not suitable for wet or greasy fouling. These tools are always used oversized to ensure optimal contact with the pipe wall. The recommended oversize depends on the internal pipe diameter. The Goodway Benelux customer service team can recommend the correct tool size.

  • Strong chains designed for the removal of heavy deposits and debris
  • Oversized design increases both cleaning efficiency and tool lifetime

Note: Chainsweepers can potentially generate sparks inside tubes or pipes. The tools and associated equipment are not ATEX-certified and should not be used in explosive or flammable environments.

When to use

Chainsweepers can be used almost anywhere where dry deposits have to be removed without the usage of (high pressure) water or other fluids. Some applications include:

  • Dust or product extraction piping in production facilities
  • Transport lines within production processes
  • Filling or pouring lines in packaging systems
  • Various tubes in industrial equipment, such as reformers
  • Industrial piping with internal layers of deposits, such as rust or corrosion
