Flex hub centrifugal scrapers
Goodway® flex hub centrifugal scrapers are specialized tools designed to remove hard deposits from straight, smooth heat exchanger tubes. Each tool features three blades that utilize centrifugal force, allowing the scraper to automatically adjust to the tube’s inner diameter. With just four tool sizes, these scrapers can cover a tube inner diameter range of 13 to 102 millimeters.
2-pass cleaning for heavy fouling
In some cases – particularly with boiler firetubes – the fouling buildup inside the tubes can be severe. In such situations, a brush alone may not be sufficient to remove the deposits. A specialized cleaning tool is needed first to remove the bulk of the buildup. Afterwards, nylon abrasive brushes can be used to eliminate the remaining fouling and provide a slight polishing effect for optimal cleaning results.
For the initial cleaning pass, Goodway Benelux recommends using the Goodway® flex hub scrapers, which are highly effective at removing hard deposit buildups inside tubes. These tools can also be used to fully open and clear clogged tubes.
Practical information
- These scrapers feature carbon steel blades. Ensure that your tube material is strong enough to handle this material. Goodway Benelux does not recommend using these tools on softer tube materials, such as brass, copper, nickel, aluminum, or titanium, due to the risk of scratching.
- Safety warning: Never rotate these tools outside of the tubes. Centrifugal forces can cause the blades to come loose, creating a serious safety hazard for nearby operators and equipment.
- Always select the correct tool size for the tube inner diameter. The Goodway Benelux team is available to support you in choosing the right tool for your application.
- The smallest tool, the GTC-225, features a 1/4″ thread, while all larger tools have a 1/2″ thread.
Threaded tool fittings
Flex hub centrifugal scrapers are available exclusively with threaded tool fittings. Since these tools are commonly used in industrial applications requiring heavy-duty equipment, the threaded connection provides the strongest attachment and minimizes the risk of failure.
