A Dutch dairy factory experienced fouling issues with three lactose evaporator installations. The tubes quickly accumulated deposits from the flowing product, and one of the installations required cleaning every three weeks to maintain efficient operation. After this period, approximately 10% of the 800 tubes became clogged, with a medium to hard deposit layer affecting 50–100 tubes.
To address this, the AWT-100X tube cleaner was used in combination with a flex hub scraper tool to open the clogged tubes. For lightly fouled tubes without blockages, a spin-grit brush was applied. After a short training session, the factory operators were able to perform the cleaning themselves. The main advantage is that the customer is no longer dependent on external cleaning companies, allowing for better control over the production schedule and improved operational efficiency.
