A leading German ceramic glass production facility faced fouling in their chiller systems. Learn more about how Goodway Benelux assisted with this project.
A German-based, leading glass manufacturing facility – who had purchased tube cleaning equipment from Goodway Benelux – requested training on cleaning their chillers with enhanced tubes. Their chiller systems are essential for high-efficiency cooling, but fouling inside the tubes was reducing performance and reliability. The facility wanted their team to learn how to clean the enhanced tubes effectively without damaging the surfaces that maximize heat transfer.
Enhanced tubes in chillers are designed to maximize heat transfer by creating turbulence inside the condenser or evaporator tubes. The grooves inside the tubes increase fluid mixing and allow the chiller to transfer more heat efficiently in a compact design.
While these tube types increase efficiency, they are more prone to fouling buildup. Deposits such as biological fouling or calcium carbonate can accumulate in the grooves and ridges, reducing turbulence and blocking flow. Even a thin layer of scale or biofouling can have a detrimental effect on the efficiency of the heat exchanger.
The customer purchased a complete rotary tube cleaning package from Goodway Benelux. Primarily the RAM-4 system, designed specifically for chiller tube cleaning, in combination with Goodway® dual-diameter spin-grit tube cleaning brushes, which are designed to remove fouling from enhanced tubes without damaging the tube material. In addition to supplying the equipment, Goodway Benelux provided on-site training and education, ensuring the operators now have the knowledge and skills to clean their chillers effectively and maintain peak efficiency.
