Dual-diameter spin-grit brushes

Goodway® dual-diameter spin-grit tube cleaning brushes (ESGB) are designed to remove light to mediumhard deposits from straight, internally enhanced heat exchanger tubes. These tube cleaning brushes feature silicon carbide coating on the bristles for increased cleaning results.

• Use these brushes to remove deposits, like: sand, silt, mud, slime (biofouling), light rust and scaling.

Dual diameter design

Cleaning internally enhanced heat exchanger tubes can be challenging, as not all brushes are capable of removing deposits from within the tube grooves. The dual-diameter spin-grit brushes are specifically designed with dual bristle lengths, allowing them to clean both the tube surface and the grooves effectively. As a result, ESGB’s deliver significantly better cleaning performance than conventional brushes for this type of tube.

Silicon carbide coating

Dual-diameter spin-grit brushes have nylon bristles that have a silicon carbide coating. This gives them a number of significant advantages over other types of brushes:

• Longer/enhanced lifetime – less susceptible to wear
• Increased cleaning effect – more friction is created by oversized brushes

The brushes are intentionally used in an oversized form, creating greater friction inside the tube and thereby enhancing the cleaning effect. This increased friction also makes it possible to remove tougher deposit types, such as light scaling. Additionally, the oversized design not only improves cleaning performance but also provides a gentle polishing effect for cleaner tubes.

Note: Although dual-diameter spin-grit brushes provide a slight polishing effect, they do not damage the tube material. They are commonly used to clean softer alloys, such as copper-nickel 90/10, and can even be used on tubes with a protective coating.

Threaded vs. Quick Connect

Goodway® dual-diameter spin-grit brushes are available with either threaded or quick connect fittings. The right choice depends on your application:

• Quick Connect – Recommended for most chiller and heat exchanger cleaning applications. Enables bi-directional brush rotation for superior cleaning results. Best paired with machines such as: RAM-PRO, RAM-PRO-XL, and RAM-4.
• Threaded – Recommended for heavy-duty, industrial cleaning applications. Best paired with machines such as: AWT-100, AWT-100X, and RAM-4X.

Most brushes are supplied with quick connect brush fittings, as Goodway® machines often feature dual footswitches for forward and reverse operation.
