The project

Goodway Benelux was approached by a Belgian company active in wastewater treatment seeking an alternative cleaning method for their wastewater evaporators. The customer had previously relied on high-pressure water cleaning but experienced inconsistent results and insufficient cleaning performance, causing them to look for a more reliable and efficient solution.

The challenge

A wastewater evaporator is an industrial system designed to reduce the volume of wastewater by evaporating its water content, leaving behind residues such as oils, salts, and heavy metals. These systems are widely used by companies seeking to minimize disposal costs, recycle process water, and comply with environmental regulations.

Fouling within wastewater evaporators can be extremely difficult to remove, requiring a robust cleaning system and regular maintenance with heavy-duty tools and equipment to ensure reliable operation and maintain optimal performance over time.

The solution

After an on-site test accompanied by a Goodway Benelux product expert, an effective cleaning solution was identified. Using the air-powered AWT-100X tube cleaner in combination with heavy-duty cleaning tools and brass and stainless steel brushes, the customer achieved excellent results. The tubes were cleaned over 95% – a level of performance recovery that was not possible with their previous cleaning method.

The customer purchased a complete AWT-100X tube cleaning package including all the required accessories, such as flexible shafts, cleaning brushes, and tools. Combined with their on-site training, the customer is now able to perform the cleaning by themself, giving them more flexibility and much less reliability on external cleaning companies.

After achieving limited results with traditional high-pressure cleaning methods on our wastewater evaporators, a Goodway Benelux product specialist conducted on-site testing with their tube cleaning system and a range of brush combinations to identify the optimal solution. Following the trial, we purchased Goodway®’s AWT-100X tube cleaning system with brass- and stainless steel brushes. The improvement after a mechanical cleaning with these brushes is significant; the equipment itself delivers a better cleaning result, and has allowed us to clean our evaporators in a more preventive way, leading to improved efficiency of our evaporators. Most importantly, mechanical cleaning does not damage the installation, which was the case with high-pressure cleaning. After eight months, we decided to purchase a second device from Goodway® for our evaporators at our other location. We definitely recommend it!
