Goodway® stainless steel adjustable buffing tools are designed to remove hard deposits from straight, smooth heat exchanger tubes. These tools can also be used to fully open and clear clogged tubes.

Adjustable buffing tools

Adjustable buffing tools are designed to remove light to medium hard deposits in heat exchanger tubes that have been previously “roughed out” with other cleaning tools. They can be used in both ferrous and non-ferrous straight tubes with inner diameters ranging from 7,9 to 76,2 millimeters.

By simply connecting them to a flexible shaft and tube cleaner, you can work quickly and efficiently. The advantage of these tools is their versatility – they can be supplied with or without a drill head, allowing you to choose whether to clean only the tube wall or to also drill it open.

Centered drill tip

Adjustable buffing tools feature stainless steel wires at the core, which can be extended to match the tube’s inner diameter, allowing the tool to self-center within the tube. Being centered ensures that the drill remains properly aligned in the middle of the tube, reducing the risk of uneven drilling and potential damage to the tube walls.

Practical information

  • Buffing tools must only be rotated clockwise.
  • Buffing tools can be supplied with or without a drill tip.
  • Do not use these tools on internally enhanced tubes.

In our search for a better solution for cleaning regularly clogged process heat exchangers, we ended up at Goodway Benelux. To determine which approach was most suitable for our situation, one of their technical project engineers visited us for on-site consultation and testing. We successfully tested the AWT-100X in combination with brass and spin grit tube cleaning brushes and the flex hub tool. The combination proved to be very effective for our application. A suitable solution was also provided for a (partially) blocked tube exchanger with the GTC-205DT drilling tool, which proved extremely useful in quickly opening the tubes. Speed was crucial for us; the device was delivered within one day and we were able to get started right away. The results of the cleaning were immediate; the tubes were completely cleared on the same day and our production is running smoothly again. We are very satisfied with the fast delivery, expert support and the results of the equipment.
