Goodway® carbon steel tube scrubbers are designed to remove medium to hard deposits from straight, smooth heat exchanger and condenser tubes. Constructed from durable carbon steel, they are highly effective at removing hard deposits including limescale.

Carbon steel tube scrubbers

Goodway® carbon steel tube scrubbers are designed to remove medium to hard deposits from straight, smooth heat exchanger and condenser tubes. Also known as SSMs, these projectiles have high tensile strength carbon steel scraping blades. Each projectile features a patented force adjustment, preset by the factory, to match both, the type of deposit and the tube material. As a result, when produced, these projectiles are the perfect match for your tube cleaning project.

Note: Only the BFP big shot propulsion system is powerful enough to shoot these projectiles through the tubes.

When to use

Carbon steel tube scrubbers are particularly effective against hard deposits such as limescale, calcium carbonate, zebra mussels, barnacles, and other hard fouling. Thanks to their strength and reusability, these projectiles are commonly used in industries like petrochemical, oil and gas, and power generation for cleaning shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

  • Tube inner diameters between 10,5 – 30 millimeters
  • Tube lengths up to 15 – 20 meters
  • For straight, smooth tubes only
  • Cleaning shell-and-tube heat exchangers and surface condensers
  • Remove hard deposits like barnacles and scaling from heat exchanger tubes
  • Check tube material compatibility with our team before using

Caution: Carbon steel tube scrubbers are not suitable for heat exchangers with extremely hard deposits that require ultra-high pressure cleaning (2,500+ bar). In such cases, these projectiles can be used as a secondary cleaning step to remove remaining deposits after the initial high-pressure cleaning. This two-pass method is often employed prior to an eddy current inspection.

Select the right projectile

Carbon steel tube scrubbers feature high-tensile-strength carbon steel scraping blades, providing a stronger cleaning effect compared to other projectile types. Selecting the correct projectile size for the tube’s inner diameter is critical for optimal performance. We recommend contacting our team to determine the appropriate size for your specific application, ensuring maximum cleaning efficiency for your tube cleaning project.
